BIM SPECIALIST (advanced operator of information management and modeling) is a professional profile with advanced skills in information management and modeling. S/he operates within the individual orders with digitalised procedures through object modeling, and is able to introduce disciplinary knowledge into the operational methods of modeling and information management. The BIM SPECIALIST contributes both to the creation of the order information content and to the instrumental resources, useful for carrying out the order.
The following topics identified by UNI 11337-7 are included in the course:
MODULE 1
- verification of a disciplinary information model
- disciplinary specialist or software use.
MODULE 2
- construction project management theory
- legal principles related to the protection of intellectual property
- cyber security
- information exchange protocols
- informative systems
MODULE 3
- data management legislation and regulations
- hardware and software requirements
- BIM Authoring and elements of Space Programming and nD Modeling
For the design, construction and management of public works the B.I.M. is now mandatory also in Italy, where the Ministerial Decree 560/17 imposed its use as early as 2019, and with full implementation by 2025.
The aim of the training course is to train a professional profile which need basic scientific and methodological training, require a high level of technical and specialised training, and moreover should have the skills identified by the standard UNI 11337-7 "Construction and civil engineering works - Digital management of information processes in buildings. Part 7: Requirements of knowledge, skills and competence of the figures involved in information management and modelling ". To this end, the course develops in-depth studies of the basic disciplines integrated by specialist courses, through training path that allows participants to acquire all the skills, abilities and qualifications for the profile of BIM Specialist.
The modules are organised as follows:
MODULE 1
- Lesson 1 to 9: set up and monitoring a disciplinary information model;
- Lessons 10 to 25: advanced knowledge of a disciplinary specialist or software use.
MODULE 2:
- Lessons 1 -5: Basic construction project management theory according to the standardised and consolidated theoretical corpus (UNI ISO, PMI, APM);
- Lessons 6 – 11: information systems relating to the definition of the current state of the assets;
- Lessons 12 – 16: Basic legal principles about protection of intellectual property of the entities contained in the information models, and in the individual entities;
- Lessons 17 – 19: Basic cyber security issues;
- Lessons 20 - 25: Advanced data exchange protocols.
MODULE 3:
- Lessons 1 – 6: National and European legislation on data management;
- Lessons 7 – 12: Basics of hardware and software requirements; procurement and use;
- Lessons 13 – 20: Elements of the logics and operational functionalities of the BIM Authoring and Basic applications of Space Programming and nD Modeling.
Knowledge of the principles of the digital modeling processes
Skills for operating on softwares in the BIM field.
The course is structured as follows:
- 70 video lectures, indexed by subject and with hypermedia bookmarks linked to the more-in-depth study materials;
- More-in-depth study materials are associated to the video lectures (texts, essays, articles, bibliographical references, lists of websites, case studies, etc.; )
- Exercises, practice work and virtual laboratories are associated to the courses and enable the students to put into practice the theoretical knowledge they learnt during self-study sessions as well as in collaborative learning sessions under the supervision of an expert teacher;
- Synchronic and asynchronic collaborative learning sessions using UNINETTUNO web fora for Interactive Class systems where lecturers, visiting professors, experts in the field present contributions, case studies, success stories related to the topics of the unit enabling students to interact in real time, to ask questions and get an immediate answer, and allowing the teachers to check the class learning process on the spot.
Certificate, ECTS provided with Level and Scientific Field, recognizable in Bachelor degree programs with the coherent outcomes (for example, Civil Engineering)
